Laminin-511 triggers hair growth

Laminin-511

Laminin-511 knockout (lama5 -/-) mouse skin shows an absence of hair growth. However if this skin is soaked in purified laminin-511 and grafted to immunodeficient mice, hair growth is restored. In the figure, lama5 -/-skin treated with a single application of PBS (left panel) or purified laminin-511 solution (middle panel) is compared to wild type skin (right panel) 9 days after grafting to immunodeficient mice.
